German Hazelnut Crescents with 5 Ingredients

You may have had enough from cookies, but I don’t care, I decided to blog a last-minute recipe: German hazelnut crescents with five ingredients. This recipe was passed down to me by a lovely lady in Munich. Just as these Heidesand cookies and this Dresdner Eierschecke are recipes from readers, this one has a funny backstory. The German platform Nebenan.de works like a community platform, I got curious when I saw that somebody was asking whether German bakeries in the vicinity sold homemade cookies. I learned that his mother had requested homemade cookies during the season. Since she had recently moved to a nursery home, she couldn’t make them herself anymore. He didn’t dare to make some, so I inquired. One thing let to another and after all I managed to bake these crescents according to his mother’s recipe. Yes, of course she got a batch right away.

My Favorite Hazelnut Cookies Shaped Like Squirrels

Haselnussplätzchen als süße Eichhörnchen

Today I am going to introduce you to a delicious hazelnut cookie in the shape of a squirrel. You need to know that I have tried several hazelnut cookies. I wanted to get a nice cut-out cookie, in my opinion the squirrles should have some nutty flavor, don’t you think? I have been trying since the time I got this adorable squirrel cookie cutter! So far no success, but finally, when I made this recipe, I was so happy with the result and alas, today you get this recipe as well.

Baci di Dama or Lady’s Kisses from Italy

Baci di Dama oder Damenküsse aus Italien

Baci di dama are heavenly cookies, a touch like a feather. These Italian cookies literally translate as a kiss by a lady. If you look at the profile of these cookies, they look like a set of lips wishing to kiss you. I really like this picturesque name which does tell you a lot what these cookies are going to taste like. Roasted hazelnuts are combined with buttery shortbread, which is sandwiched together by delicious melted chocolate. Baci di dama are perfect as a giveaway, superb for a coffee break and simply to enjoy.

This cherry hazelnut cake is glutenfree and soooo delicious! I especially like the fact that it works well with frozen cherries. I have been longing for fresh fruit and this is the perfect cake during winter, which has been dragging on. Maybe that’s why I got so excited and took more pictures than usual. I just need some fresh color and fruits!
