Lemon Cheesecake with Lemon Curd for my 9th Blog Birthday

I don’t remember exactly what made me press the “publish” button exactly nine years ago. The first recipe I ever published, was this French lemon tart. Clearly I had made it on Valentine’s for my husband. We were fortunate enough to eat plenty of lemon tarts during a holiday in France so it was only natural that I would try to bake it at home. I believe that I simply decided to publish the recipe after I had shot a few pictures. I mean, my hubby loves anything citric, I won’t say no to some tangy lemon dessert. If you also like this flavor, check the 18 recipes with citric fruits. As my blog is turning 9 today, I decided to make this lemon cheesecake with lemon curd. Think a cookie crust, creamy cream cheese with a lot of lemon zest and juice, and lemon curd. I mean, I wanted LEMON flavor.

Moist Lemon Bundt Cake

This is a moist lemon bundt cake, which comes together quickly. Most of the time is spent in the oven, baking. Did you know that today is the official bundt day? I didn’t and I am happy to say that I finally got round to making one again. This one contains yoghurt and stays fresh because of that. You can serve it with a little bit of lemon drizzle with a cup of coffee.

Lemon Crescents

These lemon crescents are bursting of lemon flavor as they contain lemon zest in the dough as well as in the sugar dusting. They are a relative of the famous German vanilla crescents especially popular during Christmas time. I am already starting my Christmas cookie baking and  I am going to publish a total of seven cookie recipes and some more articles dealing with typical problems. Usually people already know which Christmas cookies they are going to bake every year, maybe this one will also go on the list. I intentially am going to introduce not the traditional Christmas cookies here, but more unusual ones, such as these lemon crescents. As far as I understand, people like to stick to their list, but are open to try one or two new cookie recipes. So let’s get started.

Refreshing Lemon Blueberry Cake for the 8th Blog Anniversary

On February 15th my blog is turning 8! It is the 8th blog anniversary. I am happy and excited, yes, I am still in the mood, I still enjoy publishing recipes, even after eight years. Today I brought a refreshing lemin blueberry cake. I was so excited, I even painted some lemons on the outside of the cake with left buttercream. Yes, this cake takes its time, you will need to make three different components and if you are as crazy as me, you will definitely need more than an hour (I needed 1 1/2 hours) to paint the lemons on the outside of the cake. I believe for a special occasion this is definitely worth it. I hadn’t baked these type of cakes in a while, the three-tiered wedding cake for 100 guests was done four years ago, I don’t need to test recipes aynmore. So I decided to only do a smaller cake, the one pictured is 18cm/6inch, for a blog birthday I believe you can make a festive cake again.

18 Recipes with Citrus Fruits

Have I mentioned that my hubby is a huge fan of citrus fruits? I will admit, I don’t mind them either. It probably comes as no surprise then that I have tons of recipes on my blog with a citrus touch. I love any fresh and yellow, especially in winter. I also don’t mind the vitamins (yeah, I know, we are still talking about cake). I learned not that long ago that lemons, limes and the like are usually harvested in winter, sometimes in January or February. For that reason I thought it might be a good time to share 18 recipes with these fruits, I hope you find something you enjoy!

#1 Lemon Mousse or Lemon Posset

Lemonies or Lemon Brownies

We were fortunate enough to go on vacation in the north of Spain and in Portugal in spring 2023. During our trip I got to see tons of lemon trees. Many seemed to be completely abandoned. Some had half their lemons lying on the floor, which made me hurt. So I started to pick them up. Sometimes I asked whether this was OK if I saw anyone around, but nobody seemed to mind. This resulted in me having lots of lemons during our holidays, so I got to work to use them all properly. Zorra from the blog Kochtopf (in German) publishes a lot of lemon recipes. She lives in Spain and often talks about the abundance of lemons available. So I know I would find something interesting on her blog. The below recipe is from her, I love the fudgy texture of these lemonies. Don’t think of these as a lemon loaf, but rather than brownies with lemon flavor, you will enjoy them. Continue Reading…

Lemon Posset in 15 minutes with 3 ingredients

Have you ever heard of lemon posset? Apparently this is a dessert from the UK and it contains three ingredients: lemons, heavy cream, and sugar. It is unbelievably easy to make and comes together in less than 15 minutes. Surprisingly, you don’t need any additional binder, no gelatine, no agar agar, the lemons themselves somehow work their magic for this to get to the creamy and mousse-like texture. Continue Reading…

Wintery Cranberry Cake with Lemon Sponge

And here it comes, a wintery cranberry cake with lemon sponge! Pshhhhht, this was the cake I baked for the 40th birthday of my husband and it was gone so quickly! This cake is tart and so perfect for a cold winter day. Yes, you can bake this cake also during another season in case you find fresh cranberries, however, I find it particularly refreshing in winter. So as stated, you will find airy lemon sponge cake combined with cranberry filling and a light mascarpone and cream frosting. So delicious!
