I get very nostalgic when I think about these chcocolate chip banana muffins. This is one recipe I made over and over again as a teenager. Back then there was a time I ate these muffins about every day. I love the combination of chocolate and banana. That is also one of the reasons why I once invented a chocolate banana cake for my birthday. But be aware, if you don’t like this flavor combo, this recipe is probably not for you. But if you do like it, these muffins come together within minutes and only need about 20-25 minutes in the oven. So if you have some ripe bananas you wish to use, this is perfect. Make some super delicious chocolate banana muffins. You will only have to wait about half an hour to bite into these!
I spent part of my childhood in the US and another year in Canada after high school. So North American recipes are not unfamiliar. In fact, my family tended to blend cuisines and traditions. We did enjoy muffins, I know that I made quite a few as a teenager. However, we did not eat muffins for breakfast, at least I cannot recall a single time we actually did. Instead muffins were served in the afternoon for the typical German “Kaffee und Kuchen” (so coffee and cake). I remember studying for my SAT and eating muffins non-stop. I mean, better than something else, right? Maybe I can interest you in making these delicious little chocolate banana muffins.
My favorite chocolate banana muffins are prepared within ten minutes and have a strong banana flavor. Line a muffin pan with cupcake liners, preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Peel bananas, place in a large bowl and smash with a fork. Add eggs, sugar and oil and whisk together. Then add flour and baking powder, only mix until you don't see any more lumps of flour. Briefly fold in chocolate chips. I like to reserve some chocolate chips I can put on the top of the muffins just before baking. Spoon batter into prepared pan evenly. If desired, press some chocolate chips on the top of each muffin. Bake for about 20-25 minutes. My Favorite Chocolate Banana Muffins
