Have you ever tried the Pumpkin Spice Latte at Starbucks? This is much better. Homemade is always better. Just check the ingredients list of the Starbucks Latte and you will understand. This homemade version is so easy, really doesn’t take much time. If you are anything like me and you need warm beverages in fall and winter, go with this soul-warming latte. It will bring some color to your life, smell nice, energize you and just be satisfying. For all my coffee lovers who like a little extra fall treat.
I have low blood pressure. Believe me, it is not as nice as everybody thinks. I am not going to get into details, but even though it is not recognized as a sickness, it definitely feels like it often. Anyway, so whenever I went to a doctor and told them about my “condition”, they usually get excited and tell me that I am one of the few that is allowed to drink coffee and eat salt in abundance. How very wonderful! I have never understood why that is supposed to make me happy. I didn’t drink coffee for a long period of time. I simply don’t like the taste of it. Too bitter. The last doctor I went to insisted that I should drink one cup of coffee per day, he thought it would help me not feeling so sleepy and drowsy. I often take hours until I feel that my body has woken up. He also said that I should not drink it first thing in the morning (I wouldn’t manage that anyway!), but rather late in the morning. That sounded reasonable to me. One coffee is something I might handle.
So I started drinking one cup late in the morning. I still don’t drink plain coffee, I just find it too bitter. I usually either go for a latte macchiato or a cappuccino. For the milk to lessen the bitterness of the coffee. And it does seem to help. I got scared after a while that I might get addicted, but it seemed alright when I stopped drinking my cup. I do feel a bit more energetic since I have been drinking my daily cup. If you have low blood pressure, this may also be for you.
And since I only drink one cup per day, I like this one cup to be special. I know, I know, I don’t prepare this fancy Pumpkin Spice Latte when I work, that would be too much. But my husband actually was the one who prepared it for me the first time on a weekend. It really is not that much more work to prepare. You just need to have pumpkin puree. If you have that at hand, this Latte requires little more time than a regular one. I hope you enjoy it, I really like the flavor combination. Cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and vanilla plus the pumpkin make this a really special fall treat.
Place pumpkin puree, spices and molasses in a mug or large glass and stir. Brew the espresso, stir into prepared mix. Fold in foamed milk gently and sprinkle with additional cinnamon.Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte
