Guys, we have a new family member! Her name is Hazel! It is an Australian shepherd, she is about 9 weeks old. Obviously I had to bake something for her as well, I mean, isn’t she a cutie pie? Since she loves peanut butter (I have so far only met one dog in my entire life who didn’t like peanut butter), I decided to make her some peanut butter cookies.
Since my husband and me both love peanut butter, we usually order a stack for an entire year. We love the one from the Netherlands, “Pindakaas” contains so much less sugar and no additives. Try to avoid peanut butter with a lot of sugar. It really should taste like peanuts.
As some dogs seem to have problems digesting milk from cows, I decided to use vegan milk, just to be sure. In case you are concerned about allergies or you believe your dog has problems with certain ingredients, please be sure to consult your vetenarian before you make these. Our dog Hazel loves these cookies and has no problem gobbling them up happily. The cookies can be frozen and are also a treat if they are still pretty cold. I got the cute cookie cutter from here. I hope your dog will be as excited about these cookies as Hazel is.
These homemade cookies for your pups have all the peanut butter of the world. Combine the peanut butter, milk, and egg in a large bowl and stir with a wooden spoon until smooth. Add flour, oats and baking powder and first use the spoon to combine, then knead with your hands until no flour pockets remain. The dough is going to be thick. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper and heat oven to 160 degrees Celsius. Roll out half the dough on a lightly floured surface. Cut out desired shapes and bake cookies for 15min. Then flip cookies over and bake for another 5-10min so that they are a bit more crunchy. Repeat with maining dough and let cool. Cookies will keep for about a week in an airtight container and can be frozen.Homemade Puppy Cookies
